Support for the implementation of community projects to strengthen the resilience of local communities affected by the crisis linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, in the Lobéké National.

General objective: To contribute at the community level to the global response to the crisis linked to the COVID-19 pandemic through support (via projects/microprojects) for the implementation of biodiversity conservation/sustainable natural resource management and sustainable livelihood creation activities for affected local communities/indigenous populations around the Lobéké National Park (PNL) site. AAFEBEN, as part of a consortium of CSOs that each contributed to the achievement of the objective, obtained the following results;

Results Obtained:

  • Five community groups benefited from technical and financial support in carrying out income-generating activities (1 group in peanut production, 1 in corn production, 2 in pig farming, and 1 in the processing of NTFPs).
  • A corn production of nearly half a ton and a production of nearly 0.6 tons of peanuts despite the dry season.
  • 15 piglets were born from the 10 pigs given to the beneficiary groups.
  • A wild mango paste processing machine was donated to a women's cooperative.
  • At least 126.85kg of wild mango were processed into mango cakes in boxes. A total of 675 boxes of 250g and 470 boxes of 125g were produced and sold at 500frs and 300frs respectively.
